The Zippo windproof lighter has served with the U.S. Armed Forces in every military conflict since World War II. Zippo honors that relationship this commemorative lighter.
The Army Air Corps wings, also know as the Hap Arnold wings, were initially used by the Army Air Corps for their aviation units. When the U.S. Air Force was created as a separate branch, the Hap Arnold wings were used to identify Air Force assets. This tradition continued until today’s Air Force symbol, the angular wings, was designated as the official symbol of the Air Force in 2004.
