The TDI Knife was designed by former police lieutenant John Benner, founder of the Tactical Defense Institute, with officers in mind. Drawing on his experience as an officer and teacher, Benner created the TDI Knife as a "last option" knife for extreme close-quarter encounters where a suspect is attempting to take an officer's handgun, or an officer cannot access their handgun.
