Rare Vintage Herron Model 2 Number 2788
Widely known for making exquisite tapered-tang fixed blades with a flawless fit and finish, we believe this is a vintage George Herron Model 2 with ironwood scales. It’s in mint condition and comes with a signed, numbered leather sheath.
Designed to be a skinner, it has a mirror polished 3-3/4” drop point with a 3/16” blade thickness, a long slicing edge, and a slight hump on the spine. We believe the lined handle scales are ironwood and are a gorgeous example of Herron’s iconic tapered tang handles. It’s most likely never been used, sharpened, or carried.
Legendary knifemaker George Herron was a 1987 Blade Hall of Fame inductee and a past president of the Knifemakers Guild.
