December 31, 1862 - January 2, 1863, with the highest casualty rate of the war, this battle was among the largest and deadliest. This fight was over control of Middle Tennesse, a vital rail and agriculture center for the confederacy. With two failed confederate attacks, the Union Army remained intact as well as in control of Middle Tennessee. Dealing a crippling blow to confederate moral and hopes for a quick end to the war. These bullets witnessed the battle and were rescued from development by metal detectorists on private property.
