From early in the history of mankind through the settling of our nation, survival often depended on the sharpness of knives and tools used for hunting animals and harvesting crops. The Pike Manufacturing Company was founded in 1823 by Isaac Pike, producing sharpening implements that were distributed worldwide. In 1897, Pike Manufacturing Company and Norton Company joined forces to satisfy the sharpening needs created by the Industrial Revolution and progressive inventions such as the safety razor.
