COAST's new line of Rapid Response knives features Ron Lake's U.S. patent for a "Low Friction Folding Knife" - U.S. #7,827,697 B2. These blade-assist knives are smoother and safer than other assisted opening designs due to the unique features exclusive to this patent. Lake has been a custom knife maker since 1972. He was elected to the Cutlery Hall of Fame in 1998. He is one of only a very few knife makers to have a knife on display in the Smithsonian Institute.
